Prereleases Start Tomorrow!

My favorite quarterly events start this weekend! PRERELEASE WEEKENDS! Yeah… I play favorites with my events. 😉

We’re running two each Saturday, so it’s gonna be pretty crazy, but I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at these events. So, here’s the details, and these go for tomorrow and next Saturday as well (ripped right from one of the event pages on Pokemon.com):

Players will receive prerelease product and be given (30) minutes to create their deck. Decks must be built from the cards in the prerelease boxes. No other product can be used during the event. Basic energies will be provided by the staff.

(3) rounds, (30) minutes each, will be played by all players. Please allow for up to (10) minutes between rounds for the staff to input results and pair the next round.

Players will receive (3) additional Ultra Prism booster packs at the conclusion of their (3) rounds, once their round results have been turned in.

Product WILL NOT be available for sale until the release date of the set. In order to receive Ultra Prism product, players must participate in the event. No straight sales will be available until official product release date.

Our staff strives to accommodate players of all ages and skill ranges, as well as players with disabilities. If you or your child requires any assistance during the event, please notify a staff member and we will be happy to make sure that you or your child has the best possible experience during our event.

In addition, we’d like to ask competitors to park in the auxiliary parking lot located behind Great Lakes Trophy, so long as it is in their ability to do so. There is limited parking in front of the shop, and we’d like to reserve those spaces for handicapped parking and for our shorter term customers. Signs will be posted at the entrance of the parking lot to guide you. Thank you for your cooperation!

Registration for the events are from 11:00 – 11:30 AM and 3:30 – 4:00 PM. They are $25 each. Extra prizes will be provided to the top 3 players in each age division at the end of the rounds.

Throughout the day today, we can add your name to the list of players for each event if you wanna guarantee a spot for any of the slots either day. Just give us a call at (734) 425-6780 and let us know that you’re interested! You don’t have to prepay, so if you can’t make it, no sweat. This will ensure a place during the event, but you do have to arrive before registration closes.

See everyone tomorrow for the first of our ULTRA PRISM PRERELEASE SERIES!!!

League Challenge tomorrow

Just wanted to throw out a quick reminder about the League Challenge tomorrow! Entry is $5 and you do not have to pre-register. Our player cap is small than our Cup, but we shouldn’t have any problem accommodating everyone who comes out to play.

After the Challenge, make sure to stick around for our FREE 2V2 TCG Battles that we’re going to be hosting to have a little fun. League will still run side-by-side the tournament, so you can also hang out with league players for a more relaxed evening.

It should be a fun day of Pokemon, and I’m so excited to see everyone!

Don’t forget, we ask that you park behind the trophy shop in our side lot and save the main lot for shorter term customers. Thanks for your cooperation!

New January Calendars and League Cup

Pre-registration is still available for our January 6th League Cup. You must pay at the time of registration, $15, and the fee is nonrefundable if you do not attend. The $15, if you don’t attend, will be added to the prize pool for players in attendance.

Here’s the new January calendar with all of our event info. We’ve moved around and changed the times of the scheduled tournaments because of the prerelease events, and Final Fantasy has also changed nights for those of you who expressed interest in playing that game as well! Just click the highlighted text to open up the PDF and you can print it to hold onto, or bookmark it for later reference!

We’ll see everyone at the Cup next weekend and I’m looking forward to kicking off our busy January events!

January Schedule RE-DO

So… uh… I made a mistake, long story made short.

Last weekend, we distributed calendars for our January events and I had an epiphany while driving and realized that I didn’t account for our pre-release events at the end of the month.

So, I’m re-doing the calendars right now and they’ll be out on the counter for you to take the next time you’re in. I’m going to post a PDF copy of the calendars on here in a separate post so that you can see what the changes are if you got one and need the corrections.

Sorry for the confusion, gang. I don’t know how I overlooked those events. The holidays must have me more frazzled then I thought they did!

Everyone, have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and we’ll see you soon!

Crimson Invasion S2 League Challenge

This Saturday is our League Challenge, so don’t forget!

Registration is from 12:00 – 12:30 and rounds will begin shortly after that. Our player cap for the event is 32 players, and preregistration is still available for up to 20 players. Payment is not due at the time of preregistration, just your name and player info. Entry is $5 and prizes will depend on the number of players.

Maximum number of rounds will be 5, minimum will be 3, depending on the number of players. There is no top cut at Challenge events, and top placement will depend on player performance at the conclusion of the final round. We are using age-modified swiss pairing for the rounds.

Standard format for the tournament, but no deck lists are required. Penalties will be applied to players found using cards outside of this format, so please be aware of the standard format guidelines that can be found here.

So many things to go over…

So, there are a lot of new things coming up for Pokemon here on Saturdays, and I just don’t know where to begin. Here’s what I have right now:

DECEMBER 16th, we’ll be hosting our League Challenge for this season. It is a $5 entry fee per player, with prize payout depending on the number of participants. Prizes will be announced before the start of the rounds. The tournament is STANDARD FORMAT, using age-modified swiss, with no single elimination top cut. Rounds will vary on the number of players, with the minimum being 3 and the maximum being 5. Player cap is 32. Pre-registration is available, and does not require you to pay in advance. Same day registration starts at 12 PM, closes at 12:30, and we’ll start the rounds as soon as possible after that. Rounds will be 35 minutes each, best of one. All in all, we should be done with the whole event by 4, and everyone is welcome to stay and hang out for our regular League time after that!

JANUARY 6th is our Crimson Invasion League Cup event. There is a $15 entry fee per player, and deck lists are required before the start of the rounds. PDF copies can be downloaded here. We only have limited copies available to fill out at the shop, so please try and have one printed and filled out before you arrive. Pre-registration will open 12/23, two weeks before the event, and cap at 24 players. Total event cap is 48. Pre-registration must be paid in full when you sign up, and payments can be taken over the phone or in store. Prizes will vary by attendance, but the first place in each age division will receive the Champion playmat. Prizes will be in the form of Crimson Invasion packs, and every player will receive the prerelease promo card.

JANUARY 20th and 27th are our Ultra Prism prereleases! We’re doing something a little different this time. There are two registration periods, one from 11:30 to 11:30 AM and the other from 3:30 to 4:00 PM. TWO PRERELEASES EACH DAY (MADNESS)!! Entry is $25.00 each time, with the usual format. 25 minutes to construct a 40-card deck, the store provides the energies you need, and then 3 rounds that are 30 minutes each. At the end of the rounds, each player will get 3 bonus packs for completing the event. Prizes will be determined based on attendance, but will come in the form of bonus packs for the top three players in each age division.

STARTING SOON – we will be running weekly Pokemon events at NOON. These events will be themed, and are designed to be smaller tournament-style events at a low entry fee (like a League Challenge) that will conclude within a few hours. We encourage and invite players to stick around after the event for our weekly League time. These events will cover both the TCG and the VG, so make sure you check back here to find out what the week’s theme is and check the calendar at the shop!

I think that’s about it for now! Thanks for everything guys! I’m going to try my hardest to make 2018 the best year for our Pokemon League and for the game in general.

Win-A-Box Cancelled

After player feedback, and because of the events at Youmacon this weekend, we’ve decided to cancel our win-a-box tournament for Crimson Invasion tomorrow.

We apologize for the short notice, but we will definitely host a tournament for Ultra Prism when that set releases!
